At The Appointed Time

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

I came across something the other day while reading Daniel chapter 11.  Three times, Daniel says that the end is still to come at the appointed time.  As I read it on the surface, I took it to mean at the time that God has set forth by His own command.  But then it dawned on me.  Leviticus 23 commands Moses to speak to the Israelites concerning “MY APPOINTED TIMES”.  God’s appointed times number 7.  They are Passover, the feast of unleavened bread, feast of first fruits, shauot or Pentecost, Yom Teruah or the feast of trumpets, Yom Kippur or the day of Atonement, and Sukkot or the feast of Tabernacles.  These are His appointed times.  Though often we call these the “Jewish Feasts”, God calls them His appointed times.

Then I realized that on one of these appointed times, Jesus seemingly will return; The feast of trumpets.  However, Jesus also told us that He would come at a time that we do not expect.  No, that does not mean His return is imminent and it does not mean that we may as well never try to figure out when it is.  See my post on this from October 14 for more information.  It means that He may not come on the feast of Trumpets, but maybe on the day of Atonement or Day of Judgment.  I still beleive He will come on the feast of trumpets however and Daniel corroborates this with his language of the end coming “At the Appointed Time”.

It’s absolutely amazing what God will show you from His word if you are just willing to ask and learn from Him.  But too often, we choose to learn from man and not from God and then we learn the mistakes of man instead of the wisdom of God.

What To Look For?

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

In yesterday’s post, I said I would let you know why I felt we should not be looking for a peace treaty with Israel. I have become more and more convinced that it, like the rapture, has become a distraction to divert our attention to the world and not on Christ.

First, what Did Jesus tell us to watch for in Matthew 24? Did He say “When you see the peace treaty with Israel, let the reader understand”? No, He mentioned something spoken of by Daniel, but not a peace treaty with Israel.

Secondly, what did Daniel tell us? He said “and he will confirm a covenant with the many for one shabuwa”. This word for MANY is thankfully never used to describe Israel. In fact, it comes from Strongs 7727 which comes from the root of 7726 meaning idoloatrous, apostate, and backsliding. Who then are the many? I sure hope it is not you!

At first I thought it was the antichrist making a secret covenant with his ten kings that will give him power three and half years later. Now, I am not so sure. It very well may be that, but it may also be a covenant with apostate, idolatrous, backsliding Christians!

Finally, it never ever has felt right. I just figured others knew better than I, so I went with it.  No, we should not trust our feelings over the word of God. But when these feelings line up with the word of God, then it may be the Holy Spirit quickening it within us. But don’t take my word for it, take it to God and study it for yourselves.

I believe that there is at least one more “what not to look for” in Bible prophecy but i am still formulating that hypothesis and will share with ‘the many’ when the time comes. (Reference to the many was meant in jest. I am not calling anyone apostate. English word for many was implied and not Hebrew word used in Dan 9:27)

Who Was Taken?

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

I was asked “What do you feel is the most devastating thing to the people of God in our day and age?”  My answer is “The Rapture Doctrine”.  People are looking for God to take them away from the time of trial that is to come upon the earth.  Time after time I try to determine how they come to believe such a doctrine.  What gives it teeth.  Every time I seek out their beliefs, I see many scripture verses listed.  However these verses only suggest that yes, a rapture, or catching up, will occur.  What is presented as solid proof that Christ will rapture the church before the tribulation is seen to me as Christ will rapture people.  The problem is that these verses like 1 Thess 4:15-18 don’t say it will be prior to a time of trial.  In fact, I have found nothing that suggests it.

One of the most common uses of scripture I see is what I call the Noah angle.  Because Noah was taken into the ark and protected from the judgment, so too will we be protected.  But remember, Noah was a righteous man.  Is there righteousness in our churches? Not really.  Noah, Abraham, and all of us are counted as righteous because of our faith, but still this does not prove that we will be taken away.

What the pre trib rapture doctrine does is provide a very false hope for so many whose faith is weak.  Sorry to say that but it’s true.  If you have a strong faith you know that even if someone is pointing a gun at your head and has every intention of pulling the trigger and bringing your demise, if God doesn’t want you to die, that gun will jam and you will sit there calmly knowing it.  Yes, an extreme example, but faith is something that can’t be defined.  It is something that is experienced.

Speaking of Noah.  In Matthew 24, Jesus says:

36“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.

Who was taken?  PEOPLE were eating and drinking… and THEY knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and TOOK THEM all away.  It wasn’t Noah that was taken away, it was the unrighteous that was taken away.

In Luke 17 Jesus says:34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”[d]

37“Where, Lord?” they asked.
He replied, “Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.”

Again, who is taken?  Not the righteous, but the unrighteous and their bodies will be devoured by the vultures.

If you believe in the pretribulation rapture, ask yourself why you do.  If you believe it, ask yourself if you will believe its not true when the one true treaty is made with Israel.  If you believe, will you believe until the day you die in the tribulation (if we find ourselves there) or will you someday realize it was not real?

Some Israeli History

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian, Crossover

1947 - The 25% of the British Mandate (result of WW1 given to England in 1918) that was not given to Jordanian independence is divided into a palestinian state and a Jewish state.  Jerusalem was to be an international city.  The decree to restore Jerusalem is given. This is UN Resolution 181.  The Jews agree to this mandate, the arabs deny it and the hostilities begin.  In May 1948, the nation of Israel is born again with the Jews declaring independance.  They are almost immediately invaded by arab nations, but they repell them and gain even more land.  The west bank remains in Jordanian control.

1947 years from Adam (according to calculations of who begat who in Genesis), Abraham, the father of Israel is conceived.  He was born in the year that was 1948 from Adam.  Coincidence?  No way!

June 5, 1967 - Arab nations once again invade Israel.  Within three days Israel occupies the entire Sinai peninsula.  An area 4 times the size of their nation.  They occupy Jerusalem, the Gaza strip, The Golan Heights and the West Bank.  Jerusalem, officially belonging to Israel as it is the place God put His name, is returned to Israel.  Israel decides to allow control of the temple mount (now containing the Dome Of The Rock) with the Arabs.  This is a significant year.

1973 - The arabs attack once again.  This time on the Day of Yom Kippur.  Many israelis die, but again, Israel wins the war and there is no peace at this point either.

1978 - After thirty years of fighting, Egypt and Israel enter into a peace agreement.  The signing was at Camp David with the President Jimmy Carter.  Sinai is returned to Egypt and in return Egypt recognizes Israel’s existance.  The only Arab nation to do so.  Israel tries to return the Gaza strip to Egypt, but Egypt refuses.

1982 - After numerous attacks by Yassir Arafat’s PLO, Israel invades Lebanon and sets up a security zone thus occupying the southern region of Lebanon.  They stayed here until May 2000 when they pulled out.

1991 - During the first gulf war, Sadaam Hussein fires Scud missles at Israel.  Israel does not retaliate.  If they had, we would not have had to go into Iraq in 2003 because Iraq would have been a wasteland.  But God’s timing had not yet come.

1993 - The Oslo Accords - Many people believed that this was the fulfillment of Daniel’s prophetic week.  Unfortunately as is the case so many times when dealing with prophecy that is not yet fulfilled, the pieces didn’t all fit together.  Under the guidance of then President Bill Clinton, Israeli leadership and PLO leadership met in Oslo, Norway and forged a seven year deal which was to culminate in an official palestinian state.  For the first time in all of history, Palestinans and Israelis were living side by side in peace.  But it would not last.

1994 - King Hussein of Jordan and Yitzak Rabin of Israel sign a peace treaty with Jordan recognizing Israel as a sovereign nation.  The West Bank formerly controlled by Jordan and occupied by Israel was given over to the Palestinians to be a future Palestinian state and Jordan would have peace with Israel.  The total number of nations in the middle East that recognized Israel was now at 2.  That is where it remains today too.

2000 - With the Oslo accords coming to an end, the Israeli government is prepared to recognize a sovereign palestinian nation but Yassir Arafat wants all of Israel.  He even shapes his head dress in the shape of the area owned by Israel as a way to signify he wants it all.

Israel wanted to give 95% of the west bank to the PLO and half of Jerusalem.  Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak, and Yassir Arafat try to come to an agreement in historic Camp David where peace with Egypt was made during the Camp David Accords of 1978.  But no agreement is reached.  By September 2000, many are believing that if peace is obtained, Christ will rapture the church and the tribulation will begin.  It didn’t happen of course because that was not the way God described in Daniel 9.  The second infitada begins and the terror that plagued Israel that year with rocks being thrown soon turned into rockets and suicide bombers.

May 2003 - The roadmap to peace is initiated.  Headed by President George W. Bush, the European Union and Russia, the goal was for there to be a sovereign palestinian nation developed.  That roadmap is blocked by suicide bombers and a failure to recognize Israeli independence.

August 2005 - Under immense pressure from the United States, Israel withdraws from Gaza and the territory is inhabited by Hamas.  This move by Ariel Sharon was his last major move.  He died of a brain aneurysm a year later.  Many Israelis lost their homes, their jobs, their livlihoods.

2005-present - President of Iran, Mamoud Ahmedjinedad, states repeatedly that Israel will be: Pushed into the sea, wiped off the map, and cease to exist.  He restarts Irans nuclear program that was halted in 2002 after pressure and sanctions from the UN.  His goal is to build a nuclear weapon to annhililate Israel.  Israel pledged in 2007 and again in 2008 that they would not let this happen.

Previous years

1917 - 400 year Ottoman rule ended.

Clarification

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

I need to clarify my last couple of posts regarding the return of Christ.  First off, please note that it is speculative at this point.  Time will confirm or deny what I have said or will disprove all that I have said.

What I am trying to say is that yes, I believe that if in the next calendar year +/- a month or so, Israel and the “HE” in Daniel 9 will confirm a covenant.  It could be a peace treaty after a war or it could be a strengthening of the Oslo accords, I don’t know.  This will start the seven year period of the sixty-two and seven shabuas.  The sixty-two having been fulfilled from 1947 until 2009.  It is after this seven year period that Christ will return on the feast of trumpets in 2016.  But we won’t know which day or hour.  He will come on a day we don’t expect.   Many expect Him to return on a Saturday or a Biblical Sabbath.  That makes the monday or tuesday that He could return in 2016 unexpected.

Also, the day or hour being unexpected could be that according to God’s timing and maybe we are off and the dates in October 2016 set aside as the feast of trumpets is not really what God has in mind.  I am not saying the Hebrew calendar is definite.  It may be inaccurate too.  This would make the day and hour unknown and unexpected.  However Christ never once told us that we couldn’t discern the year.  That’s interpretation.  In fact, He has given us so many clues that I believe the year can be predicted.

NOTICE:  I have not given you a specific date.

But I am saying His return will be on the feast of Trumpets and after a period of tribulation.  Not before.  There is no such thing as a pretribulation rapture.

In Genesis 1, God said there was evening and there was morning each day of creation.  God’s day begins with the evening and ends in daylight.  The tribulation will be at the dawn of the millennial kingdom or the 1000 years reign of Christ and to God, a thousand years is as a day and a day is as 1000 years.  So at the dawn of the day of the Lord, there is darkness on the earth.  The Great Tribulation.  Seeing as how every single person goes through the night and into the day and the cycle continues each day, it only stands to reason that every single person will go through the night and into the day of the Lord.

Sorry, I wish there was a pretrib rapture for my family’s sake, but I know there will not be one.  God can take anyone out of this world any time He so wishes, but I don’t believe the Bible tells us that it will be a mass exodus to escape the night.  No other night has ever been escaped in your lifetime. Why would this one be?

So from 1947 - 2009 there is 62 years and from 2009 - 2016 there is seven years and the final shabua or feast of weeks is when we will enter into the covenant of peace with our Lord.  More on that another time perhaps.

I hope this clarifies things for everyone.  If not, leave a reply or send me an email.

The Unknown Day and Hour

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

The more I read the Bible about the end times, the more I am convinced that we are to know when Christ will return so we can be ready for that day.  Let me break it down for you.

Christ will return after a time of Great Tribulation.  We know this from primarily from Matthew 24 and Revelation 20.  But if we have no idea when He is going to return, and if it is after a time of Great Tribulation, wouldn’t we want to know when that tribulation is to begin so we can be ready for it as well as the coming of Our Lord.  Besides that, we should be able to determine the day, if we know which day the tribulation begins.

So what I am saying is why is it that we always say “no one knows the day or the hour and we are not supposed to know?”  Well, that’s simple really.  It comes from Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 12.  However lets look at this closer.  In particular Matthew 24.

Starting in verse 29, Jesus is talking about the time of His return.  It occurrs immediately after the tribulation of those days.  He then in verse 32 starts talking about the fig tree so we will know when these things are near.  He then says that His words will not pass away.  Heaven and Earth will pass away, but His words will not pass away.  We know from Revleation 21 that this happens and it happens after the 1000 year reign of Christ.  So in verse 36 of Matthew 24, Jesus says “OF THAT DAY AND HOUR, no one knows.”  I beleive quite possibly He is refering to the passing away of Heaven and Earth after the 1000 year reign.

He then goes back to the return of the Son of Man speaking of what it will be like in that day.  Which by the way gives us some indication of what will happen with this current economic crisis, if you ask me.  More on that another day.

So Jesus speaks of heaven and earth passing away and then says of that day and hour no one knows.  I believe He chose these words becuase they understood the Hebrew idiom that He was going to use next.  But first I must point out Daniel 12.  The angel speaking says that some will lead many to righteousness in those days.  Also in Hosea 4, God says His people perish for lack of knowledge.  Now putting it all together, Jesus starts talking about His return again and with the parable of the thief coming in the night tells us that we should know when He will return.  Many who bleieve we cannot know the day or hour believe that it will be on the Feast of Trumpets.  Each year as the feast of trumpets comes, pret-trib rapture bleievers eagerly await their departure and each year are disappointed for another year.  But they will get their wish because Christ will return on the day and hour no man knows.  This is a Hebrew idiom for the feast of trumpets because the new moon can come on any hour in a given 48 hour period.

When the waning quarter moon starts at the end of the sixth month, the darknes of the moon follows three days later.  During that time, the moon will start the waxing again and lead into the waxing quarter  any hour during a forty-eight hour period.    That is why that day became known as “The Day and Hour No Man Knows”.  Just like in America, the fourth of July is known as Independance Day each year, the feast of trumpets each year is known as “the day and hour no man knows”

However as you read Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 12, it sure seems as though Christ is telling us that we won’t know the day or the hour as if we simply must be ready because we don’t know when He is coming.  But then He turns right around and tells us to be ready, to be prepared, to know when He is coming so we can be prepared.

I realize what I have said here goes totally against the grain of contemporary and historical Christian teachings.  Perhaps it was in God’s plan that this knowledge be revealed at this time because that future feast of trumpets is near.

When the great tribulation starts, if you were not prepared for it, you will be caught off guard and either be killed or possibly align with God’s enemies.  There are 3.5 years prior to the great tribulation signaled by the signing of a treaty.  Use those 3.5 years to prepare so you can survive the next 3.5 years.  Be prepared, for you know He will come on a feast of trumpets or rather a day and hour that no man knows.

God Bless

Bugs And Sam Puzzle

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

On December 25, 1977, my brother and I received a puzzle each for Christmas.  My puzzle was a picture of Yosemite Sam and his was that of Bugs Bunny. It didn’t take us long to figure out that when they were put together we could take a piece from one puzzle and fit it in the exact same location of another puzzle.  We could bug’s ears on Sam and part of sam’s mustache on Bugs.  The pieces all fit, but the picture obviously didn’t look right.

After President Bush’s recent primetime speech on the economy and congress’ passing of a bailout package that I feel was worthless, many people started asking me what was going on.  Is this the end?  Apparently there was a special on television recently about Nostradamus.  He apparently has predicted the end will come in 2012.  When I heard this, I laughed and thought about it for a second and said “It’s almost too late”.

The book of Revelation and Daniel 9 and Daniel 12 speak of a period of 3.5 years of Great Tribulation.  Even if God went by the Gregorian Calendar, which He certainly does not, that would mean that by June 30, 2009 the great tribulation must start to be completed by December 31, 2012.  Don’t even consider this statement.  God doesn’t go by our calendar, He goes by His calendar.  Besides that, the altar has not yet been reestablished so that it can be shutdown.  So, sorry, but Nostradamus is once again wrong.

However, the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together but it is still too early to tell if it is Bugs or Sam allegorically speaking.  What I mean is that these pieces are coming together.

Piece 1: We are somewhere near 6000 years from Adam.  That’s six days in God’s time (2 Peter 3:8) and that means we are near the 1000 year day of rest or millennial kingdom.  The fact that we are in 2008 and have at least 7 more years to go shows just how far off our Calendar is from God’s pure calendar.

Piece 2: Russia needs the price of oil to be higher.  As I write this, it is down to $77 bbl.  By the time you read it, it may even be lower or possibly higher.  Iran’s president and ruling clerics hate Israel and want to eliminate them.  A coalition is forming between these two countries that is unprecedented.  We could be seeing Ezekiel 38 fulfilled soon.

Piece 3: Yes, there have always been earthquakes.  There have always been famines and diseases.  But there has never been AIDS that is drug resistant, intense earthquakes and Tsunamis so close together, and as for wars (afghanistan/Iraq), there are rumors or stories of previous wars like WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the first gulf war.  Wars have been throughout history, but right now we have wars going on and rumors of wars at the same time.  Rumors could also be wars that are not real.  Like the cold war.  There was not really a war, but it was rumored it could start anytime.

Piece 4: There is an incredible amount of apathy in America.  I can’t speak for other nations but in America, people are giving up on church and subsequently on God.  Why not?  Churches are allowing sin to be called good.  Homosexuality is welcomed.  I have no problem with homosexuals as people. I love all people.  But I don’t like the sin and I don’t think it should be so openly accepted and called ok.  Churches are more like businesses rather than places of worship.

Piece 5:  November 29, 1947 and May 6, 1948 and six days in June 1967.   This is UN resolution 181 calling for British Palestine to be divided and a Jewish state created.   In May the nation was established.  (Side note: Abraham was conceived 1947 years from creation and born 1948 years from creation.  Abraham is the father of Israel.)  In June 1967, the six day war was fought between Israel and the Arab nations and Jerusalem was recaptured for Israel.

Piece 6: The world is falling apart economically.  Yes, this has happened before and could happen again.  It’s also possible that we could recover and then the bottom drop out.  No one knows for sure, but the world is so interconnected economically that we are very ready for a big war and a one-world government.  We are closer than many realize.

Piece 7:  The Temple Mount Faithful wants desperately to build an altar and they have everything they need to do it.  They just need permission to build it.  A temple is not needed, just the altar.  Many think the temple needs to be built before the altar can be shutdown.  The Bible does not speak of this. It speaks of the daily sacrifice being shutdown.  The altar always comes first.  If they build the altar, this is the final piece.  If you see the altar built on the temple mount, get ready to meet your Lord.

There are still more pieces of the puzzle.  It is my belief that God has done this on purpose.  In tomorrow’s blog entry, I will explain why I believe the pieces of the puzzle were given by God.  I don’t believe He wants us to be caught off Guard, but still many will be.

Seventy Sevens or Seventy Shabuas?

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

The Bible is fascinating, there is no doubt.  But certain parts fascinate us more than others and those parts don’t necessarily fascinate everyone the same.  Daniel is always a hot topic, especially given our current economic slowdown.  In particular, I have found that many try to discern the meaning of Daniel’s seventieth as if it is a time in the future, separated from the other 69.  That concept, for 8 years now, has never sat well with me but I accepted it only because I felt others studied it enough to understand it more than I could.

The following comes from Daniel chapter 9 beginning with verse 24

Some historians suggest that it was in 444 BC that the decree to restore Jerusalem took place and it was 173,880 days from that day that puts us at March 30, AD 33 when Christ was cut off.  The 173,880 days is 69 * 7 which = 483 years.  Take this 483 years times 30 days in a month and you end up with 173,880 days.  The problem is that 444 + 483 (years) only takes us to 39 AD.  Now the number of days may fit but to me this is twisting the scriptures to fit your desired goal.  However most historians agree that the decree actually took place in 536 BC and adding 483 years is not enough to get to Christ.

The closest to fitting that I have found is a suggestion that 457 BC is the important year.  If you add 483 years you get to 27 AD which would be the date of Jesus’ baptism and “annointing” if He died in AD 30 it would then be in the midst of the final week He was cut off.  If it was AD 33, it doesn’t fit.

There are many varieties of this.  In each case, most agree that the final week or the seventieth week takes place in the future but is separated from the other 69.   It does seem quite apparent that the seventieth week is different as Gabriel mentions to Daniel specifically seven weeks and three score and two weeks (62) for a total of 69.

My problem with these beliefs is that I don’t see much evidence of God breaking apart a prophecy over a span of years.  I see much evidence of plurality of prophecy however.  So even if we could find one item that fit exactly having Christ being cut off some 69 sevens after a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, there is still that seventieth year.  Ok, I will allow it in the future for now.  But that doesn’t mean that the 69 sevens couldn’t happen again.

Consider this:  Seventy Shabuas is the word that is used.  This is translated as weeks, but can also be translated as feasts of weeks.  Have you ever wondered why God commanded the Israelites to count the Omer from the Sabbath after Passover for seven Sabbaths and then add one day?  This always puts Pentecost on a Sunday fifty days after the Sabbath following Passover.  Why count the omer?  Was it to teach them to count?  Yes perhaps.

God told the Israelites to count seven sabbatical years or seven sets of seven years and the following year after the 49th year (seven times seven is forty-nine) would be a year of Jubilee.  This was a time of great celebration and all slaves were freed and that which belonged to someone was to be returned to that person, like a scicle or a cow or even a city perhaps.

So perhaps God was having them count the Omer so they would get in the habit of counting Sabatical years so they would know when the Jubilee year was.  Well in modern times, no only do the Jews not properly count the omer (according to true Biblical writings) but they do not know when the next Jubilee year or Sabbatical year will be.

Back to the Shabuas.  If the word Shabua could be translated as feast of weeks, then perhaps from the going forth of the commandment to rebuild and restore the city until Messiah there will be 62 feast of weeks and 7 feast of weeks.  This would be a straight 69 years since the feast of weeks occurs once a year.  If that be the case then we can look sixty-nine years prior to the crucifixion to see the starting point of Daniel’s prophecy or perhaps we need to look to the future for a future commandment to rebuild the city and count forward sixty-nine years or perhaps we can take November 29, 1947 as the day the commandment went forth to rebuild the city.  That was the date of UN Resolution 181 which divided the land of British Palestine and made Jerusalem a new city under international control.  WHOA!  Could it be that after 69 years from UN Resolution 181, Christ will return?  After all it says that from the going forth of the decree until Messiah prince there shall be sixty-two shabuas and seven shabuas.  Now before you call me a date setter, I set not one single date. I suggested a year, but not a day nor an hour.  But if you consider the scriptures carefully, Jesus said we knew not what hour He would return in Matthew 24.  The day and hour that were unknown were for heaven and earth passing away.  But that is for another time.  Consider this one for a while.  Take it to God as I will too and see what happens.  Just consider it. I make no predictions, just suggestions.  But think about this:  It would be during the generation that saw the restoration of Israel.

Time is on my side on this one.  But in a little over a year, that time will have proven me wrong on this one.  But then again, it may just prove me right. We will see.

Tomorrow is…

Published by Phil under Bible Study, Christian

Yom Kippur!  It is 10 days into the seventh month.  Now consider this parallel.  On the tenth day of the first month, Christ as the lamb of God, rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.  He being the Passover lamb was to be brought to the city on the 10th day of the 1st month to be examined and found to be without blemish.  As you may recall, He was tried and tested and always came out clean.  Before His death, neither Pilate, nor Herod found anyting wrong with Him.  For four days, he was examined and found to be without blemish.  It was however the 10th day that this began.

On the tenth day of the seventh month, the High Priest would go into the Holy of Holies to make atonement for Israel or to make them clean and without blemish in the eyes of God.  It was to be a day of fasting, the only commanded day in the Bible.  Over the years Rabbis have added other commanded days of fasting but this is God’s only day of fasting.  It is on this day, that I bleieve, the judgement of the living will be becuase they will not be judged according to their sins for they have been washed away.  They will be judged according to their deeds as suggested by Paul in 1 Corinthians 3.  It is five days after this day that the wedding feast begins after Christ’s return.

It’s God’s most solemn day in His calendar.  Tomorrow, I have prepared for you a posting that I find interesting but many will find to be full of mistakes, I am sure.  Some will find it interesting.  I only ask that you, as you read it, consider what I have suggested and weigh it against current world events and against the scriptures of truth.  Please consider what others say too, but weigh both with prayer and against the only true scales, the scriptures of truth.  Enjoy it.

Another 30/60/100 to consider

A while back I spoke on the parable in Matthew 13 when Jesus spoke about the crop being 30, 60 and 100 fold what was sown.  I showed how this is a common theme in the Bible with God.  The two links here are two of those topics I wrote about:

I would like to entertain another that I feel has had many people aruging and/or wondering for generations.  It’s regarding the abomination that causes desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel in Daniel 9 and again by our LORD Jesus Christ in Matthew 24.

Some say that the sacrificing of a pig on the altar by Antiochus Epiphanes was the abomination spoke of.  That very well may be true. Let’s call that 30.  Others say that the Dome of the Rock which current stands on a wing of the temple, not over the holy of holies (satan got it wrong again) is the abomination.   I have actually read some great arguments for this and was nearly convinced it was true many years ago but the question then came “Where is Christ?”  He has not returned yet so I call that the 60 fold fullfillment.  Now this ugly mosque currently sitting “where it ought not be” sure is a big thing.  If that’s only the sixty fold measure then whatever is to come next is certainly going to be far worse.

That’s why I believe these two events, though they seem to fit Daniel, are not the final fulfillment of that prophecy.  Remember what else was spoken in Daniel 9 “to seal up vision and prophecy and annoint the most holy”  Has it been completely sealed and has he returned?  Revelation still has unfulfilled events and He has not returned yet.  Oh yeah, there is something bigger coming.  I just hope if we are still here to see it, that we understand and do what we were told.  Flee our homes and seek refuge in God, in the wilderness.
