I Just Don’t Get It

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

I read this morning on the drudge report that congress is preparing for “a final battle” with President Bush.  WHY?!?!?!?!?  Why didn’t the American people vote these ignorant people out of office?  Instead we gave them more power by awarding them more seats in both the senate and the house.  Yes, I am sorry, but I am speaking of the liberals.  Yes, I am a conservative, but that is not why I say this. Yes, I am biased, I admit it.  But I would say the same thing about republicans if they were treating President-Elect Obama this way too.

This is the United States of America and we are now almost 150 years past the Civil War. It’s about time we started acting like Americans and stopped treating our president like he is a clump of dirt.  I mean this for all Americans too.  George Bush may not be an eloquent speaker.  Yes, he makes me laugh at times when I listen to him speak. He may not be a strong leader, but he is our leader and we should back him and not call him names and act as if the entire economic crisis is his fault when the liberals under Clinton started the housing mess.

We should support him and Obama too, with our ardent prayers and we should never bad mouth him even though we may not like him.  I couldn’t wait for the day that Bill Clinton left office, but I never said that while he was still our president.

I can guarantee you that our world is going to change while Obama is president and he is going to make decisions that cause even his greatest supporters to ask what he is thinking.  I don’t  know how he will go down in history, as a good or bad president and I am not sure who even gets to make that decision.  To me, it should be personal.  But I know this, I will pray for and support him until he tries to make me deny my faith in Jesus Christ. No president has ever done that and I doubt he will, but that is the only reason I would ever not support a sitting president and I sure hope all Americans join me in that.

Batten Down The Hatches!

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

As I write this post, Tuesday evening, Asian markets are having a gloomy day.  When you are reading this post, it may already be the same for the US Stock Markets.  But as I have said before I will say again, the stock market is not the best barometer for our global economies.  Yes, they are an indicator but too often when the market gets low, people buy and drive the indexes higher and then sell off with thier profits and leave the rest of us that are in it for our retirement wondering what the next 20 years will bring.  I wish I could tell you, but I don’t know.

But what I do know is this. For the next two and a half weeks, until after Thanksgiving in the US, I am not going to worry about the economy at all.  I am declaring a moratorium on worry.  Well, actually I rarely worry about it becuase I know God is in control.  But I admit, at times I say Hmm, what in the world is going on.  But let’s not worry if you are a worrier.  Enjoy the remaining autumn days, prepare for Christmas and the joy of the season and forget about the economy for a while.  Also enjoy the gas prices because I can promise you they will get higher again.  Yes, they depend on strong econonmic growth, but they are also dependent upon supply and demand and with a cold winter and a lunatic in Iran, something is going to blow soon.

So no more posts from me about the economy for 2 and a half weeks.

Let’s Not Forget!

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

There was a worldwide economic crisis 70 years ago.  Many people alive today did not live during that time and many more were born after it was over.  During that time, there was a nation on earth that had a new leader and this leader had the support of the people, for the most part.  He was charismatic, he was well spoken, he was idealistic and he was liberal.  He was also quite antisemitic.

I am concerned about what I have seen in our nation in the last week.  Yes, it is exciting that we as a nation have finally crossed the racial boundary. I could not be happier about that.  But let’s remember that he is merely a man.  He is not a god nor a demigod nor even anything more than a man.

When I see a long running show about business and the stock market showing his picture along side which stock the contributors feel will be a good money maker, that scares me.  When I see video of a prep school with 145 young men singing a rap song about him and holding up signs of him, it reminds me of a middle-eastern Arab dictator regime.  When I hear people say “If I take care of him, he will take care of me, I won’t have to worry about gas in my tank or paying for my mortgage” I want to move to Canada!

Is America moving away from its democratic and capitalistic principles?  Are we going to inaugurate a president on January 20 or are we going to corronate a king?  It’s only been a week and it seems as though many feel it is the latter. It literally scares me to death to think about how people have elevated this man.  They will either A) be extremely disappointed in four years and we will have a Republican landslide the likes of the 1984 election or B) they will follow him headlong into the worst time in our nations history praising him and bowing before him if he should ever demand it.

What’s more is that plans for an Obama national holiday (probably a joke. I didn’t check Snopes yet) were circulating around the internet yesterday.  Here’s the gist of the story

Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation’s 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

“Yes We Can” planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald’s restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama’s honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

At 7:30 a.m. on Inauguration Day, Obama Cake will be served at the downtown McDonald’s, and a celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

I have asked and will continue to ask any God-fearing believer who reads this blog to pray for our president-elect, but now I feel we must pray that God remain our sovereign leader or else we may as well say our goodbyes to this great nation.  Let’s pray it’s just the people without wisdom that are doing this.  Let’s pray it is just a fluke and biased media attention.  Let’s pray that the nation that our veterans fought for and gave up so much for is still the nation it was 1 week and 1 day ago.  Let’s pray our nation is not becoming the next Nazi Germany or worse, Babylon the Great!

Kings and Rulers

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

Daniel 2:21 - “It is He [the God of heaven]…who removes kings and establishes kings.”

God’s in complete control of this situation not matter who wins.  No matter at all!  Please believe that.  Don’t let anyone tell you differently.  God has chosen our leader for us and for His purposes and His purposes will not be dismantled by man.
God Bless you all….. I will be back probably next week, but i am enjoying the time away.

Change We Can Believe In!

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

No, this is not a Barack Obama rally.  This is a spiritual rally.

1 Peter 2:1-3

1Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Now that’s the sort of change we can believe in.  For my American readers out there.  This Tuesday when you go to vote, vote for the man you think is right for our nation and don’t let anyone sway you or tell you that you are wrong for the choice you make.  If it is Obama, then vote for Obama.  If it is McCain then vote for McCain. If it is the communist party or the green party candidate, then vote for that person.  Just vote.

God has a plan for whomever wins.  Whether it’s your choice or not doesn’t matter so much.   God’s choice will prevail.  Believe that and you will feel better this coming Wednesday.

One Week From Today

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

Having run in a 20k race and several 5k races, I can tell you that when you see the finish line (especially after having run 19.75 kilometers) at times it seems like you are never going to get there.  But when you get there and cross it, the exhilaration is amazing.  You are glad that it is finally over and you just want to rest.  That’s exactly how I feel about this presidential election too.  It has been long.  Very long.   I am tired of hearing from both sides, I don’t care who wins, and I pray that whoever wins follows God in these trying times.

I don’t think I have kept it much of a secret (and if I have, it is no longer a secret) that I feel we are at the very brink of the last seven years of man’s rule on earth.  If I am wrong, then I am wrong.  I very well may be.  But if I am right, then we are going to need to focus on God and not our government in the near future.  I have been asked if I think Barack Obama is the antichrist and the answer is always NO WAY!  If Obama wins (it’s not November 4th yet) then let’s pray he follows God.  If John McCain wins, let’s pray he follows God.  At this point, if we are near the end, it doesn’t matter who is elected.  The world is going in the direction it is going and God knows about it and is in control of it so why should we worry?  IF God is for us, who can be against us?

If we are on the brink though, we must remember the words of Revelation. We must persevere until the end.  Revelation is a mystery in part, but aslo a way of showing us what is to come so we can believe and persevere.

No matter what happens 1 week from today, trust God and never give up on Him.

The Un-United States of America

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

United we used to stand and the way things are going, divided we will certainly fall.  Raise your hand if you are not fooled by the political rhetoric spewing from the presidential campaigns and at this point don’t care who really wins?  Do I see any hands?

The somber reality is that too many are fooled by it all.  Does Obama really want socialism?  No way.  Does McCain really want to “reach across the aisle?”  Well, he may want to but will he really do it?  No way.  He can’t.  I was fearful for our nation after the last two presidential elections because what basically has come out of them over the last 8 years is that at least in the beginning of his terms, George Bush was starting out with half the country disliking him.

I am not suggesting that unless it is a Reagan landslide like the 1984 election we are divided.  But as close as they were and as close as this one is going to be, we are extremely divided and it is worrisome.

As Christians, we need to pray for our nation and we need to be sure we don’t take part in the sins of this nation or our churches.  We need to change and we need to allow God to be the one to change us because God will start with His people, called by His name, and will bring about His changes through them and then take that message to the rest of the world to all who will listen.

There are plans being made right now for riot control on the night of the election because of the allegations of voter fraud in battleground states.  That’s insane!  What kind of society are we living in?  Barack Obama speaks out of four or five sides of his mouth and John McCain takes those words and twists them and turns them into ammunition with which he fires it back at Obama and gets his followers to hate him more.

The media twists and spins every single comment made by either into building up their choice of candidate and rallies their viewers all the while. This is unhealthy!  This is one man we are talking about.  One human being.  This is not Jesus, the Lord and Savior of all man kind.  This is a human and we are building them both up as if they are going to solve the worlds problems.  It’s insane and it is dividing us more and more.  We don’t have to worry about external terrorist threats, we are going to tear ourselves apart from within.  Families are arguing amongst themselves and brother against brother.  Where have I heard this before?  If we are not living in the last days of this planet, then I certainly don’t want to be here when we do because it’s only going to get worse if we are and it’s already bad enough if you ask me.

God help us and have mercy on our nation and our souls.  Amen!

Getting Closer

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

As election day approaches, now  a little over a week away, we will probably hear more rhetoric and unattainable promises too.   But when that day comes and goes, let’s hope and pray for a few things.  What do you say.

Let’s hope and pray that:

  • By morning we have a new president and it is not dragged out for weeks on end.
  • There are no allegations of voter fraud.
  • The United States will live up to its name and Unite under the new president regardless of who it is.
  • that in time, we will once again be ONE nation UNDER GOD.
  • God will move in the hearts of men and women across this great nation to rally behind our new leader and support him in prayer.

May God Bless America!

A Frustrating Reality

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

In Matthew 28 we read:

11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

What a lie!  We know that Jesus was not stolen. He was resurrected and lives today.  Yet in verse 15 we read that this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.  The reality is that we as human beings have a tendancy to lie and we do lie.  But what is even more frustrating than that is that people so often believe the lies without ever taking time to find out the truth for themselves.

But God sees through the lies and will help us see through them too.  Nothing surprises Him and nothing gets by Him.  He cannot be fooled and He will not be fooled.  The media in America is very clever and very powerful and get anyone to believe the many lies and spin that they present.  Their eloquent rhetoric is second to none, but still, they don’t fool God.  Someday, all that is conceived in darkness will be brought into the light.  Praise God!

It’s indeed a frustrating reality that we live in a society where people feel that “little white lies” can be made in order to get ahead.  But the day is coming when that will no longer be the case.  We long for that day but until then, let us long for the Lord to help us see through the lies.  The Bible, the scriptures of truth, that is where we should turn.

Spread The Wealth Around? Really?

Published by Phil under Christian, Society

Barack Obama recently suggested to a man that is now as famous as Sarah Palin and Joe Biden that he wanted to spread the wealth around. (Link1, Link2)  This is of course a socialist priniciple, but I have known for a long time that Obama’s belifs are socialist.  The idea is that too many people make mot of the money in America and keep it.  Well, those Americans also employ people, pay taxes, keep our ecnomy strong and more.  Yes, it’s sad that people get and hold on to money but being Robin Hood with an emphasis on the ROB is not at all the right priciple for America.

Neither is letting the market do its thing because let’s face it:  Corporate greed has brought America to its knees.   We may not see the recession yet, but that’s because it is still hiding behind the corner. It will round the corner soon.

So what are we to do?  If we vote for Obama, we get socialist ideas.  If we vote for McCain, we have corporate greed left unchecked.  I have a new platform that I would like to present to both Candidates and all of America and Canada too.  It’s called God’s Government.  Let’s spend the majority of our tax money on education.  Let’s educate the American people about Christ and let’s educate Chrsitians on God’s law.  No, I am not advocating that we have separate dishes for dairy and meat (besides that’s Jewish and not God’s commandment anyway).  I am advocating the concept of caring for one another, bearing one another’s burdens, living our lives not for ourselves but for the God that created us.  It’s about helping widows that can’t buy food or pay for heating oil or gas.  it’s about putting aside doctrinal differences and living by the word of God alone.   It’s not about getting people to say a prayer so we can boast, it’s about getting people to live the Christian life as Christ presented it to us so that no one boasts. Spread the love and all will have the wealth.

If we spent this money on education, we wouldn’t have the problems we have.  In fact, if we did, we would have one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!  AMEN!
